CAM Track Teams Sprinting Into Early Success

The CAM boys and girls track team traveled to their first track meet on March 29th. The teams that competed at the Bedford meet were Wayne, Lenox, O.M, Griswold, Bedford, and East Union. The boys had a successful night by winning overall at the track meet. Starting with field events, junior Cade Ticknor took first place by throwing a 117. In long jump, junior Lane Spieker placed first overall by jumping 19 feet. 

Receiving first place, the 4x400 relay team with a time of 4:09, senior Connor Mckee in the 110M hurdles with a time of 15.44, and Lane Spieker in the open 100M with a time of 11.69 and open 200M with a time of 23.58. Running into second place the 4x800 relay team with the time of 10.6 Ethan Follmann in the 3200M with the time of 12:48, Connor McKee in the open 200 with the time of 24.66, and last, but not least Jack Follmann in the 110M with the time of 16.47. The 800M- sprint medley with the time of 1:46 and the 4x100M relay with the time of 47.60 placed third overall. The CAM boys ended the night with 155 points overall.
The CAM girls also had a great night, finishing in second place with 94 points. It was an exciting night for senior Molly Venteicher, not only breaking her PR, but also breaking the CAM high school record with the throw of 37 feet in shot put. Junior Mallory Behnken also had an impressive night with a throw of 32 feet. In discus, Venteicher received 3rd place. In long jump, senior Zoey Baylor took second place and junior Abby Follmann, third place. Senior Jade Jackson took second place in high jump with a PR breaking height of 5’1 and freshman Emma Follmann placed third.

In the running events the first place finishers were Jenna Wheatley in the open 200 meter dash with a time of 29.28. Coming in third place for the CAM Cougars were the 800- sprint medley relay with time of 2:12, 4x200 relay with time of 2:06, and the 4x100 relay with time of 57.18.

The CAM girls traveled to Audubon for the Audubon Girls Early Bird track meet, on Thursday, April 1st. The track meet consisted of 16 teams and they were AHSTW, AR-WE-VA, Audubon, CAM, Denison, Exira-Elk Horn- Kimballton, Green Co, Harlan, LoMa, Mo Valley, Riverside, Tri-center, Treynor, Underwood, West Harrison, and Woodbine. Receiving first place for the CAM Cougars was senior Jade Jackson in high jump with the jump of 5 ft. and senior Molly Venteicher in shot put with a throw of 38 feet. 

The CAM CouGals traveled to Nodaway Valley to compete on April 4th. In total 11 teams competed, and the Cougars finished third overall. In field events, senior Molly Venteicher finished first in shot put and placed third overall in discus. At the high jump station, senior Jade Jackson took home the gold and freshman Emma Follmann placed second. 

For the running events the CAM ladies, Jade Jackson placed first overall in the 100M hurdles with the time of 17.5. Placing third overall, the 4x100 team (Nova Wheatley, Jenna Wheatley, Reese Snyder, and Breeana Bower) with a time of 55.84. The 4x200 team ( Reese Snyder, Emma Follmann, Zoey Baylor, Jenna Wheatley) with time 2:01 and the 4x100M shuttle hurdle relay (Jade Jackson, Breeana Bower, Maddie Holtz, and Nova Wheatley) with a time of 1:17.
