Regular Meeting

CAM Board of Education

Monday, September 13 2021 6:30 p.m.

 

The CAM Community School District Board of Education held its regular meeting on September 13, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the Superintendent’s office at the CAM High School in Anita.  Present were Directors Gary Dinkla, Chuck Kinzie, Mike Plagman, Nick Kauffman, and Julie Williamson, Superintendent Paul Croghan, and Secretary Lindsay Jahde.  Principals, Barry Bower, Larry Hunt, Dominic Giegerich, and James Brauer were absent. Visitors in attendance were Cara Murphy, Katherine Becker, Tasia Scott, Emily Barrick and Daric O’Neal.  

 

President Gary Dinkla called the meeting to order, read the mission statement and welcomed visitors.  The agenda was approved with no changes.  A motion was received from Chuck Kinzie to approve the consent agenda consisting of minutes of the August 17, 2021 board meeting, bills (with additions), financial statements, Contracts for Amy Jessen, cook at North Elementary, April Maeder, Para at South Elementary, Brittany Karwal, Mentor Teacher, Jenna Maiers, Model Teacher, Open Enrollments and Applications to the Iowa Connections Academy received after the deadline, without good cause, or those denied because of lack of classroom space; as well as those denied due to inability to provide services, Fundraisers for CAM Boys Basketball and Junior, Class of 2023, seconded by Mike Plagman and carried on a 5-0 voice vote. General Fund bills were $2,980,288.96, Nutrition Fund bills $14,075.84, SILO Fund bills $22,527.56, PPEL Fund bills $25,977.52 Activity Fund bills $11,213.97, Management Fund bills $13,614.25.   

 

Katherine Becker addressed the Board regarding COVID-19 positivity rates.  Superintendent Paul Croghan presented resignations and contracts; advised a petition resulted in the collection of 308 eligible signatures to allow the board to consider a resolution ordering the issuance of a GO bond not to exceed $30,500,000 be added to the ballot of the November 2, 2021 election; recommended approval of the Anita Daycare food service agreement, the Homecoming Highway Relay for the cross-country team to bring a football from Massena to Anita during Homecoming week, the FFA out of state trips, sale of approximately 50 retaining wall blocks by sealed bid and the 501.10-502.4 board policies as well as the purchase of air purifiers from ActivePure Technology as part of the mitigation of COVID and other strains of illness.  A resolution ordering a special election on the issuance of $30,500,000 general obligation school bonds was passed on a roll call vote 4 to 1. Approval was given regarding the Anita Daycare Food Service Agreement, Homecoming Highway Relay, FFA out of state trips and calendar, the sale of excess property by sealed bid (retaining wall cinder blocks), board policies 501.10-502.4 as well as for the purchase of equipment from ActivePure Technology.  

 

The board adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
