Boys’ Basketball Team Receives Recognition

CAM boys’ basketball team had a very successful season being able to bounce back after a rough first half going into Christmas break with a record of 3-4. With most of those losses being to teams they should have beaten. After Christmas, they turned it around and only lost three games before the playoffs. CAM boys ended the season with a record of 14-9. This successful season could be attributed to the whole team putting in the work, but there are a few who went above and beyond and were recognized at the basketball banquet on March 22nd, by the coaches. Coaches recognized the Co-MVPs, who were Colby Rich and Connor McKee. These two combined for 646 points and many other stats that lead the team to be a dominant force. The Glass Cleaner Award went to the player who was dominant down low and was able to come down with the most rebounds. Cade Ticknor received this award with his 61 offensive rebounds and 80 defensive rebounds. The Most Improved award went to Sam Foreman who didn’t settle for being mediocre and throughout the season worked to better himself and soon became a solid part of rotations. Dime Dropper was awarded to Lane Spieker who was able to get the ball to his open teammates for them to get an easy bucket. Spieker ended the season with 96 assists. Mr. Hustle was given to Ethan Arp, who didn’t slow down on the effort no matter how tired he may have been. He won this award by always giving 100% no matter what he was doing. Defense is how you win games, and the winner of the D Up award took that to heart, Spieker won this award with his 36 steals. Last but definitely not least is Mr. Comeback, he may not have been able to play at the start of the season, but that didn’t stop him from still being part of the team until he was allowed on the court. Wyatt Gettler was named Mr. Comeback because he was not able to return to practice until after Christmas, due to foot surgery.
