Cougars Wrap up the Season on a Heartbreaker

February 19th, the Cougars started the playoffs after having a first round bye. The Cougars’ first opponent were the Fremont Mills Knights. The first quarter the Cougars took a tight grasp on the game with a score of 14-5. The second quarter they didn’t let up on the Knights with a score going into halftime being 35-8. The third quarter continuous clock started rolling and the score by the end of the quarter was 51-14. The fourth quarter the Cougars still didn’t let up on the Knights making the final score 66-21. The leading scorer for the Cougars was Cade Ticknor with 15 points.

The Riverside Bulldogs were the next opponents for the Cougars on February 20th. The first quarter the Cougars led the Bulldogs with a score of 17-10, but the Bulldogs were far from out of the game. The Cougars still lead the game going into halftime with a score of 28-15. In the second half the momentum shifted toward the Bulldogs. The score was 38-27 with the Cougars still holding the lead, but the Bulldogs weren’t going to go out without a fight. The fourth quarter was really rough on the Cougars as they only scored two points compared to the Bulldogs’ 14. The final score was 40-41 with the Cougars season coming to a heartbreaking close.

The team would like to thank all the fans that supported them throughout the thick and thin of the season. This has been a very shaky season to say the least with the current circumstances, but we look forward to what next season brings because CAM boys basketball has a bright future ahead of them.
