“Speaking” Her Way Through Senior Year

This week’s senior spotlight is JoAnn Brahms. JoAnn is the daughter of Steve Brahms and Emma Lee, and her stepmom is Diane Brahms. She has two sisters and one brother. The most important things in her life are family and friends. JoAnn has been involved in 4-H, FFA, NHS, Speech and Debate, the Southwest Iowa Honey Queen, and is currently the senior class president. JoAnn wants to attend Kirkwood Community College for two years to get an Associate of Liberal Arts degree and then attend a bigger four year college to get a bachelor's degree in Journalism/Mass Communication. She has always enjoyed speaking in front of people, being in speech and debate has helped her realize what she can do with her voice. Coming into her senior year she was most looking forward to being with her friends and making the most of her last year. One thing she would change from all her years of school would be the freezing cold temperatures in the school. JoAnn’s favorite memory from school was falling into a creek like five times during one of Mr. Miller's classes her sophomore year. JoAnn’s advice for the underclassmen is make sure to make the most out of every moment because it will go by faster than you think. We wish you the best of luck!
