Freshman Spotlight By: Carli Schuler

This week’s freshman spotlight is Kylie Nelsen. Kylie’s biggest fear coming into high school was the classes being very hard. She found it easier than she thought as long as she studies, pays attention in class, and keeps up on her homework. She was most excited for the fun events like homecoming, and sports. She said that although this year is a little different, she hopes that next year will be a little more normal. After high school, Kylie would like to go to the University of Iowa. She would like to look into becoming a Radiologist. She believes that she will change her mind a few more times within her next three years of high school. Kylie’s biggest change from middle school to high school was definitely the schedule. In middle school, she had only 40 minute classes, but now the classes are around 80 minutes. It was difficult at first, but now she is starting to like the longer classes. The most challenging thing that Kylie found was the different lunch times. There is a big difference between the time that she had lunch in middle school and what the times are now. Her favorite school lunch is pizza. She likes the different flavor options that there are to choose from. The best advice that she has gotten has been from several different people. They’ve told her to pay attention is Mrs. Thomas’ class and stay caught up on work. She has followed this advice and she is glad she did. We wish you the best of luck in the coming years!
