Joe Wollum Talks to parents and players May 28, 2020

The Iowa Athletic Association and the Girls High School Athletic Union, along with the Governor's Office and the State of Iowa have given the green light to playing baseball and softball this summer beginning Monday, June 15th.

Practice began June 1st with many precautions set up and put in place. CAM High School coaches and administrators met with parents on May 28th outside in the football bleachers. The players and parents received a copy of the precautions while Mr. Wollum and the coaches went over them as well.

Here is what you need to know if you, as a fan, want to attend games this summer. We are getting an opportunity for a little normalcy during this time, please understand there are no exceptions to what is listed below.

  • There will be no concession stand and for everyone able they will need to use the football bathrooms. No use of the hydrant by the concession stand.

  • There will be no bleacher seating at either the baseball or softball fields

  • Family units may sit together, each unit being six feet apart from each other. Please have your children sit with you and not run the grounds.

  • Social Distancing will be EXPECTED and ENFORCED. FAILURE to comply will cause the game to be CANCELED IMMEDIATELY. If one or more people are responsible for the forfeiture of a ball game they will be suspended from attending CAM events for one year.

  • There will be an administrator present at all home and away games and the above restrictions will be in place at any game location.

  • You may wear a mask if you want to, but they are not required at this time. If we start having repeated issues with social distancing the administration will start requiring masks for all spectators.

  • Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 must stay away from all games.

  • No sunflower seeds, pistachios, peanuts (anything that leaves shells) are allowed at the game.

  • Players can access either a personal, or their family’s cooler for drinks or food.

  • No tailgating.

  • ALL PLAYERS and SPECTATORS must leave immediately after the conclusion of the game NO congregating in the parking lot. PLAYERS must go home and shower immediately and wash their game uniform.

  • Players will be retrieving foul balls, not fans.

All other In-person team organized activities for other sports remain suspended until July 1, 2020 or further guidance. This includes weight room, open gyms, team and individual camps, and open running.

This also means coaches who have children who are athletes CANNOT utilize school facilities for individual workouts or practices.
