Cougars Beat The Odds

Story image 1_0

On Tuesday, February 18th, the girls hosted their last home game of the season against Riverside. The Cougars defeated the Bulldogs 59-28, allowing them to advance in the postseason. The girls were off to a rough start, which made Coach Wollum do a quick line up change. After making the changes the Cougars started rolling, and were led by Zoey Baylor with 14. Sammi Jahde added 12, and Mallory Behnken and Marissa Spieker with nine each. After the final home win of the season, the girls traveled to Denison to take on Woodbury Central. The Cougars fought hard throughout, but just couldn’t pull through, losing 43-32. Marissa lead the team with nine, followed by Molly Venteicher with eight, Zoey with seven, Sammi with five, and Mallory with three. Congrats on defying the odds, and having a great season ladies. Congrats on finishing second in conference, even though the expectations were low. Seniors, thank you for the last four years, and congrats on being the “winningest” class that Coach Wollum has coached. Good luck in your future, ladies!
