On Tuesday, February 4th, the Cougars traveled to Woodbine to take on the Tigers. The girls fought hard throughout the game and at one point cut down Woodbine’s 11 point lead to two. Even though it was close throughout, the girls ended up losing 61-58. Allison Spieker had a career high of 20 points, making her the leading scorer, followed by Zoey Baylor with eight, and Marissa Spieker with seven. Zoey also had 11 rebounds and six assists. After that hard fought game, the Cougars played at home on Thursday, February 6th. This game wasn’t an easy match by any means either. After a battle all the way through the Cougars lost to the Audubon Wheelers 53-45. Zoey was the leading scorer with 14, followed by Marissa Spieker and Naomi Grubbs with eight each. Mallory Behnken had nine boards, and three blocks. Due to illness, the girls’ basketball team was not able to play on Friday, February 7th. Good luck at your last conference game with Paton-Churdan, and your first tournament game with Griswold at home on Thursday, February 13th.
