Last Shot for the CAM Shooting Team

By: Alexis Karns

The CAM Shooting Team wrapped another successful year. There were 28 members who attended the state trap meet, eight competed state skeet, and 10 participated in state sporting clays. 10 awards were given at the banquet this year among the 33 kids who participated. The “Uh-Oh” Award was given to Tristan Williams and Brett Draeger. Tristan received this award because he shot the trap house three times at the Harlan meet, while Brett received the award because he got left at the Waukee game and didn’t make the bus home. “Most Valuable” was given to Ty Eblen because of his improvement and his consist 25/25 at the state meet. “Rookie of the Year” went to Creighton Kinzie because he placed 1st or 2nd at every single meet he attended in trap shooting. He was also “Rookie of the Year” for skeet and sporting clays. “Most Improved Male” was given to Tyler Comes (Atlantic) because he was very inconsistent at the start of the season and by the end of the season, he was hitting clay birds like it was his job. “Most Improved Female” went to Alexis Karns because in the beginning of the year, she was still trying to find her groove and things weren’t going as she hoped they would. At the state meet, her hard work showed up and in one round she shot a 24/25. Seth Stephenson took home “Most Valuable” in both sporting clays and skeet because of his consistent placing throughout the year. “Most Improved” in skeet and sporting clays was Zane Lilly (Nodaway Valley) because he placed 44th in both. “Leadership” Award went to Brandon Westphalen (Atlantic). This award was chosen by the shooters because Brandon’s leadership stuck out the most to the shooters.
