Scheduling at the high school now until the first day of school

High School Schedules will be sent out with a letter that instructs you how to suggest changes in your schedule.  All changes are not immediately implemented as students need to consider what's best for them and what they have considered for a career pathway.

Every year the students have the opportunity to add to, change or start their MAPS career planning program a state requirement that guides students through survey questions that then makes suggestions and has them pick a career pathway.  These can be changed, adjusted or started over at any time and can be accessed at https://www.planyouradventure.net/form.php and you can recover usernames and passwords if you have access to your student's school email.

Our scheduling grid - CAM High School Schedule Grid

Here's the letter I'm sending out -

There are a lot of factors that go into scheduling, the first being class size and availability.  While we want you to work out what’s best for you, it’s important to stay on your career pathway.

If you want to change your schedule before school starts (some of you may have to change them if you do not have eight classes listed for first semester) here’s how:

  1. The current schedule grid is there as well as other resources.  PLEASE CHECK OUT THE RESOURCE “First Block Skinny Classes” below as we have more that meet every day during first block.  Draft your schedule, all eight classes and email them to me at dgiegerich@cam.k12.ia.us.

  2. Stop in at registration to see me or Mrs. Blair to make changes.

  3. There’s time to stop in August 20, 21 & 22nd.  Freshmen you have orientation Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. so you can talk to Mrs. Blair or I at that time as well.

  4. There will be a process the first day of school, but it will involve you going to the classes on the schedule you were just sent first.

Anyone with IWCC classes, those are hard to change and are subject to availability (some are already closed). If you didn’t register with IWCC, you are not enrolled in their classes and didn’t receive an orientation letter (happened Aug. 8th)  There is still time and I emailed you the registration sheet at the start of August, so go there for the form or stop by the office and turn them into IWCC or to me and I’ll email them to IWCC.

Seniors, you need to have a full schedule.  If you choose to have work release you must fill out the paperwork and it will not go on your schedule until it’s filled out AND APPROVED by Mr. Giegerich.  I suggest Iowa Western Community College classes, even a third or fourth one that you pay for (if it fits your college plan) as you can get credits out of the way now OR take a rigorous course that prepares you for classes or training you’ll get after you graduate.

You can also access your schedule through the JMC Parent or Student portal.  Just make sure you’ve toggled to the 2018-2019 school year. If you’ve forgotten your information, remember you USERNAME is the “primary contact”s last name and you can click the “forgot password” and it will help you reset.  If you still have trouble call Linda Havens at 712-762-3231.

First Block “Skinny” Classes:  Here’s a summary of classes that meet every day either the first half of the first block, 2nd half of the first block, Either and/or normal block.  If they are in a Block 1, then need a block 5 and visa/versa.

Block 1 (first half)            Block 5 (2nd half)                     Either 1 or 5 (1st or 2nd ½)
