A Look Back On Girls Basketball

The girl’s basketball team ended their season with an 18-5 record. The teams goals going into the season were to play as a team and become a family. Joe Wollum, head coach, said “I do think we played as a team, but I don’t think we were fully connected to call us a family.” The Cougars losses came from Boyer Valley twice and Exira-EHK three times. Both of these teams are the top of the conference and share the Rolling Valley Conference Championship. In the beginning of the season the CAM Cougars hosted the annual Pride Scrimmage against Griswold. The team scored their highest 76 points, twice this season against AC-GC and Stanton. Madison Gettler, a junior, got her 1,000-career point during the post season. She was 24 points away before the game and achieved that. Gettler ended the season with 1,013 career points. The girls made it to the third round of regional play but lost 49-63 to Exira-EHK. The team had an amazing season and can’t wait to see what the season looks like next year. Coach Wollum stated, “Expectations will be high for this group going into next season, my big fear is we will become complacent, when we really need to have our best offseason ever if we want to see our dreams come true.” Wollum also said that his favorite memory of this season was just being around the girls everyday and seeing how they impact each others lives and those around him. He also said he loves seeing how great they treat his daughter Baylor. We’d also like to thank to community, students, and cheerleaders for all their support throughout the season!
