District Large Group Held
Three Groups Advance to State

Saturday, January 21, 24 CAM speakers braved the early morning bus ride to Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs to participate in the IHSSA Large Group District Speech Contest. By the end of the day, three groups were awarded a I-Rating and the chance to perform at the state contest in Ankeny on February 4. Going on to state will be the following groups:
- Short Film - Angeline L, Emily M, Jalynn F and Karli W
- Radio Broadcasting - Brett S, Trevor M, Hannah A, Jordan W
- Group Improv - Brett S, Trevor M, Jordan W
Receiving II-Ratings included: Alex M and Michaela S - Ensemble Acting; Alyssa K, Angeline L, Cole M, Emily M, Haley B, Hannah A and Karli W - Reader's Theatre; Short Film - Kourtnie S, Shianne C, Tianna K, Tierney S, and Trace T; Alyssa K and Erin D - Ensemble Acting; Blake M, Kourtnie S, Mackenzie S, Tianna K, and Tyler S - Group Improv; and Blake M, Trace T, Ty S, and Austin H - Radio Broadcasting.
Receiving III-Ratings were: Ali H and Shaley W - Ensemble Acting; and Brooklyn W, Katie A and Mackenzie S - Ensemble Acting.
This year we had half the 12 groups who were performing at contest for the very first time, including 5 freshmen groups! It's not easy getting up in front of people, but these kids have taken that first step . . . . congratulations!
NEXT UP FOR CAM SPEAKERS . . . .
. . . . will be the Rolling Hills Conference Speech Tournament which will be help at CAM HS on Saturday, January 28. The public is invited to come watch these talented speaker perform (except for the short film and reader's theatre groups) along with all the individual events. Speaking events start at 9:00 and rounds will continue at 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00 with finals beginning around 12:30.
