Anita Board of Education
Monday, May 3, 2010, 7:30 p.m.
The Anita Board of Education was called to order by President Randall J. Rabe for a special session on May 3, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the media center at the high school. Members present for opening were Jeff Gregersen, Chuck Kinzie, Nick Kauffman, Randall Rabe, and Julie Williamson. Also present were Superintendent John Brazell and Secretary Linda Edwards. Secondary Principal Dominic Giegerich was absent. There were 11 visitors present.
AGENDA CHANGES: No changes were made to the agenda.
APPROVE AGENDA: A motion was given by Director Kauffman that was seconded by Director Williamson to approve the agenda. Voice vote, motion carried 5-0.
DISCUSSION ON OPTIONS TO FILL THE SUPERINTENDENT POSITION FOR 2010-2011: A lengthy discussion was held on the options before the board in the selection of a superintendent/elementary principal for the 2010-2011 school year. Information was presented on the costs savings for sharing a superintendent with the C & M district. The board secretary was requested to find more information on the costs to hire a one-year interim superintendent/elementary principal and for the cost of a shared elementary/middle school principal. Any board member wanting other information on options is to contact the board secretary.
RESOLUTION FOR OPERATIONAL SHARING WITH C & M FOR SUPERINTENDENT: This item was tabled.
RECEIPT AND FILING OF TERMINATION RECOMMENDATIONS: An envelope with the superintendent’s recommendations for termination was delivered to the board president. No appeals had been filed. The envelope will be filed with the board secretary. A motion to receive the recommendations was made by Kinzie, seconded by Gregersen. Voice vote, motion carried 5-0.
ADJOURNMENT: President Rabe declared the meeting adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
