Each first grader and Spanish IV student wore a “special” color for the day. The first graders were very excited to see the girls and start the project. First off, the first graders were taught how to say “My name is”; we went around the classroom and each child had the opportunity to say it aloud to the whole class. Next, each child colored a character to look like them, then they cut it out and pasted it on the picture of their house. Next we started learning our colors. The first graders learned the Spanish words for the colors of red, brown, green, blue, red and yellow.
After learning the colors, we played a tricky game. The Spanish IV kids would say a color in Spanish, and any first grader wearing that color would have to stand up quickly. The first graders picked it up no problem! Since everyone now knew the colors it was time to color our house. The kids followed special instructions, listening closely for the Spanish word determining what color each thing in the picture should be. When we were done the first graders had masterpieces of art! It was a fun day for everyone.
