Read Across America

Anita Elementary School celebrated Read Across America on Monday afternoon, March 1, 2010 with activities centered on the book “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. Students traveled to four stations including one on animal tracks presented by Cass County Naturalist Laura Schwendinger, one where students chose RIF books, a visit to the forest (elementary library) where the King of the Wild Things, elementary principal/superintendent Mr. Brazell read the story “Where the Wild Things Are” to them, and a mask making station in the gym. Students also enjoyed animal crackers. Staff dressed in animal attire and a drawing was held for a free t-shirt give away in grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-5. Lucky winners were Eli S. in grades K-1, Tyzik C. in 2-3 and Mariah M. in 4-5.
