Spanish IV Class Visits ISU
On October 5, the Spanish IV class traveled to Iowa State University to attend a university level Spanish class and learn about study abroad opportunities.
Jessica Burcham, Erin Claussen, Bailey Smith, Erin Bower, Cassidy Carr and Paige Dinkla spent the morning touring the ISU campus, including the Memorial Union, Parks Library, the aerospace engineering building and several others. They then attended the class, "Spanish for Business and Professions", a 300 level Spanish course, composed of mostly Junior and Senior level students. They were invited to participate and take part in the class. The class is taught entirely in Spanish and the girls were impressed by how much they understood.
Following class, the Department of World Languages hosted a luncheon for the students. While they ate, Prof. Chad Gasta talked about the Spanish major and minor at Iowa State and and the importance of being multilingual and multicultural in today's global economy. He also discussed the several study abroad opportunities that students can take advantage of at ISU.
Erin Claussen commented that, "The experience made us better understand college life and the many opportunities that there are with Spanish and studying abroad."
